Mediation is a process in which a neutral third-party, called a mediator, facilitates communications between the parties to assist them in reaching a mutually acceptable resolution. The mediator has no power to impose a resolution or settlement. A voluntary process, mediation is private, informal, and non-binding.
The mediators work with the parties and their respective counsel to optimize the mediation process and maximize its effectiveness in resolving the dispute. The mediation style is evaluative, although adaptable depending upon such things as the desires of the parties or the particulars of the dispute.
